Lay Funeral Ministry

Bookings for this year's course are now closed. Bookings for the next course in Spring 2027 will open by January 2027.

A day to reflect creatively on theological, liturgical and pastoral aspects of funeral ministry and care of the bereaved. This one-day course, led by Penny Pedley and Revd Dr Phil Cooke, will cover a range of issues and challenges encountered in funeral ministry.  While of particular interest to those just starting to conduct funerals or wanting to think a little further about exploring this ministry, more experienced funeral officiants are equally welcome.

This course is required for anyone working towards authorised Lay Funeral Ministry within the Diocese of Oxford.  It is also recommended for LLMs interested in funeral and bereavement ministry.
